Web design in East Belgium: who suits whom
Agency with a team, a single web designer or a website builder: an honest overview of the providers in Eupen and East Belgium, and when which one fits.
If you need a new website in East Belgium, you have more choice than you might think: agencies with a team, individual web designers, Liège agencies with pages for Eupen, and do-it-yourself website builders. There is no best provider for everyone, but there is one that fits each business. Here is how I see the landscape. I am one of them myself, I will say that up front.
Agencies with a team
Pavonet in Eupen and Aachen is an advertising agency offering strategy, graphic design, web design, print and signage. Pixelbar in Eupen has built websites and web applications for many years, mostly with WordPress, and runs the hosting too. Cloth in Eupen is a media house with its own people for web, illustration, social media and signage. Graphic House in Kettenis combines branding and marketing with AI tools. In the south, the Designagentur Leifgen works in St. Vith, and just across the border MUM in Weiswampach. An agency fits if you need a campaign, signage and a website at once, and several contacts are fine with you.
Individual web designers
Alongside them are individuals who design and build themselves: BG Design in Eupen, focused on interfaces and B2B websites, Benjamin Bock, a web developer for Eupen and East Belgium, Martina Recker with websites and shops you maintain yourself. And me, Laconis in Eupen. An individual fits if you want one fixed contact who knows your business and answers quickly.
French-speaking agencies
Searching in French mostly brings up agencies from the Liège area with pages for Eupen, such as Defaweux, based in Lontzen. That can fit if your customers are mainly French-speaking. For a business selling in German and French, it pays to choose a provider who speaks both languages every day.
The website builder
Wix, Jimdo or Squarespace cost little and are set up quickly. They fit if you have the time and enjoy it, and a business card site is enough. For a shop, two languages and Google in East Belgium it soon gets heavy going, and the monthly fees keep running.
Where I fit, and where not
With me you get one contact instead of an agency: I do the design and code myself and write the texts too, in German, French and English, with ContentCore, my own system, where you change everything yourself, if you like through your own AI as well. I also build complete shops, with no cut of your sales. For branding, print and photos I work with regular partners from the region. I am less of a fit if you want an agency with ten people or everything has to be done yesterday.
How to choose
Whoever you go with: look at websites the provider has built, and open them on your phone. Ask who owns the domain and the content, what is added every year, who looks after the site after launch and whether the second language is really translated. Whoever answers that clearly is usually clear about the rest.
