I do the design and I write the code.

I am Nicolas Spies. Lacønis is my business in Eupen, East Belgium: one person, no team, no agency. I design websites for small businesses, build them and run them afterwards, with a content system I developed myself. Every website on this page came about that way, for businesses in East Belgium, the Eifel and the Euregio, in up to four languages. Where you are based does not matter. If you call, I pick up. The same if something gets stuck.

I learned web design and the basics of code at Pixelbar. After that I was a graphic designer at Pavonet until Covid came, then at Colop Arts and Crafts and at the creative studio Cloth. With two friends I founded Nexo and built websites there. Since April 2026 I have been working on my own as Lacønis; Nexo has stayed on as a partner.

How it works

Five steps, two to eight weeks depending on scope. Each one also says what I need from you. Projects fail on that more often than on the technology.

  1. Conversation

    1 to 2 hours, Step 1 of 5

    We talk for an hour or two, wherever you like: at your place, at mine in Eupen or by video. I ask a lot, you tell me what is going wrong right now. I work out the budget range during the conversation, so you know which way it is heading. You have the quote the same day or the next.

    From you I need access to what already exists.

  2. Concept

    Step 2 of 5

    Structure, pages, what goes where, in which languages. The design comes in the next step.

    From you I need a clear decision, no committee round.

  3. Design

    Step 3 of 5

    I design directly in the browser. You see the real thing early, on your own device, and you can touch it.

    From you I need an honest reaction, even when it is uncomfortable.

  4. Build

    Step 4 of 5

    Interface, content system, languages, delivery. Along the way you see where we stand.

    From you I need content. That is the most common reason projects stall.

  5. Handover

    1 hour

    One hour of training, then you run the site yourself. I stay reachable, but you do not need me for every text.

    From you I need nothing more.
